Day 1: Transfer to Ruhija Sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
After Early morning breakfast at your hotel, if self-drive trip, the jeep will be delivered as early as possible to enable you to take the 10 hours to drive to Ruhija Sector of Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park. If its guided tour, the experienced tour guide of the company will pick you up at 7 am early morning to start the drive to southwestern Uganda via the Equator for an experiment about the south & north pole. After proceed have lunch in Mbarara and proceed to drive to Ruhija. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Mist Lodge. Meals on Full Board.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Game Drive in Ishasha Sector
After Morning breakfast, you will head to the park headquarter for briefing about the gorilla trekking rules and regulations to be followed during the visit of the gorillas in the Wil Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. After this head into the jungle to search for the apes which will allow you one hour stay once found to take pictures, record films, and Explore the impenetrable Bwindi . After Return to the Park Headquarter for Lunch and later start on the drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is the home for the big five mostly known for the tree-climbing lions. Dinner and overnight at the River Campsite.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive & Boat Crusier in the Evening
You will wake up very early and go for the game drive where you will search for the tree-climbing lions in the ishasha Sector which is the lovely sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The Game watching experience may last for 3-4 hours and later return to the lodge for breakfast and drive to the other sector of the park where you will enjoy a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. The Boat Shall be a private boat of the local community, Dinner, and overnight at Bush lodge and camping is kasenyi Camping Site.
Day 4:Game Drive & Transfer to Rwenzori Mountains National Park.
After Very early morning breakfast, you will head for the game drive where you will visit the craters and the Katwa Salt Lake to see the salt lake and spot other wildlife animals that are found in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Return to the lodge for Relaxation and Lunch, later take the 1 hour drive to Kasese Town, proceed to RMS where the Rwenzori Trekking experience will be starting the next day . Dinner and Overnight Ruboni Camp.
Day 5: Nyakalengija (1648m) – Nyabitaba hut (2651m)
After breakfast at the camp, you will proceed to RMS headquarters for briefing about the whole hiking process. Hiking will then start from Nyakalengija via the Bakonzo settlement areas to the Rwenzori park gate where registration will take place before entering the park. You will then start the central circuit through the thick, dense, and tropical vegetation. This vegetation cover is home to a number of fauna such as white colobus monkeys, elephants, duiker, chimpanzee, three-horned chameleon, and so many others. Dinner and an Overnight at Nyabitaba hut.
Day 6: Nyabitaba hut (2651m) – John Matte hut (3505m)
After breakfast at the hut, you will move again through the forests for at least 30 minutes to Kurt Shafer bright which is at the junction of two rivers; Mubuku and Bujuku. You will continue hiking up the Nyamulejju rock shelter which usually acts as a camp for first-time hikers. You will have a stopover here and enjoy lunch. You will continue from this point through the Alpine forest to John Matte hut where you will have overnight accommodation and dinner.
Day 7: John Matte hut (3505m) – Bujuku hut (3962m)
After breakfast at the hut, you will cross river Bujuku and through the forest to lower Bigo Bog. There is a walk board up to the boggy area which makes it easier for trekkers to move easily. Expect to see flowers, giant lobelias, groundsels. You will take a rising hike along a ridge which will then get you to the beginning of the upper Bigo Bog.
There is a walk board to Lake Bujuku, after which then, there will be no walk board anymore. You will have to move through the small boggy area without a walk board to Bujuku hut from which you will be able to view Mount Baker, Mount Stanley, Mount Speke, and Lake Bujuku. Dinner will be served and overnight accommodation at Bujuku hut.
Day 8: Bujuku hut (3962m) – Elena hut (4541m)
After breakfast at Bujuku hut, continue with a hike to Elena hut which takes 4-7 hours. You will encounter two trails; the left trail leading to Scott-Elliot pass sloping downwards to Kitandara lakes and the right trail heading to Elena hut sloping upwards through the large rocks to Mount Stanley.
Elena hut is at a rocky part of Mount Stanley and is very cold. From this point, you will be able to view Mount Baker and Mount Speke. Seeing these two mountains at times is hard due to the existence of fog. Dinner at Elena hut,
Day 9: Elena hut (4541m) – Margherita peak (5109m) – Kitandara hut (4023m)
Wake up as early as 2 am and have breakfast Elena hut. Prepare yourselves in the warmest gears availed to you in backpacks such as putting on your harness, gloves, head socks, helmets, headlamps, and sunglasses. Hike to the top of Mount Stanley through the steep rocky areas where you will use ropes to help you move through the Stanley plateau.
After moving for several hours, you will reach the starting point of Margherita glacier. Hiking through this glacier, you will eventually reach the top of Mount Stanley, Margherita peak (5109m) at the top, you will view Mount Speke, Ireen Lake.
Descend to Elena hut for lunch and thereafter, move to descend to Kitandara through Scott Elliot pass to Kitandara hut. Dinner and overnight at Kitandara hut.
Day 10: Kitandara hut – Guy Yeoman hut
Have breakfast at Kitandara hut, then move towards the slippery base of Mount Baker. So be very careful while trekking through it. From Kitandara, the trail ascends steeply up the headwall, through the base of Mount Baker and continuing to the Southside of Rwenzori Mountain via fresh field pass.
It will take you 5-7 hours to reach Guy Yeoman hut from where you will spend a night and enjoy dinner.
Day 11: Guy Yeoman – Nyabitaba – Nyakalengija
After breakfast at Guy Yeoman hut, you will begin off by descending to Nyabitaba through the bamboo forests. This path is so muddy and slippery, so requires one to be careful as you have to balance in-between the rocks and mud.
After 5 hours of trekking, you will finally reach Nyabitaba hut where you will make a stopover for lunch. Continue descending for more than 3 hours to reach Nyakalengija hut. Dinner and overnight at Sandton Hotel Kasese
Day 12.Transfer to Kampala
After morning breakfast at the lodge, you will jump into your Landcruiser and start to drive back to Kampala with a relaxed stopover along fort portal to view the cleanest city in Uganda. Arriving in Kampala in Evening for the flight back home. Self-drive Travelers will handle over the jeep at Entebbe Airport.
